Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received an Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She reported on a variety of noteworthy stories including arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips together with President Reagan to summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
