Elizabeth Jane Hurley, an English model and actress who gained notoriety in the 90s as the girlfriend of Hugh Grant and a former English model. The track quickly caused debate as some critics accused it for promoting same-sex relations while others claimed that the racy scenario that it depicted was a sly way to appeal to men's fantasies about sexuality in females. I Kissed a Girl became a worldwide number-one hit due to the combination of excitement and an elegant tune. It also helped her sell a number of albums, including The One of the Boys. The album's song, the second Hot N Cold also proving well-loved, the album which Perry created herself ultimately registered sales of more than 3 million copies across the United States.
